2018 - 2019 Didactic Educator of the Year Award

Criteria/Process

AWARD CRITERIA

Candidates may nominate themselves or be nominated by a peer (educator, school administrator, etc.) Student nominations will not be accepted. Either the candidate, or the educator who nominated the candidate, is responsible for providing complete documentation (listed below). Incomplete packets will not be considered. The submission deadline is December 1, 2018. Applications may be mailed or emailed to scholarships@ast.org.

Self-nominated candidates must write a 500-word essay explaining why he/she merits this distinction and provide one letter of recommendation from a peer (educator, school administrator, not necessarily from your institution). Email essay to scholarships@ast.org.

Peer-nominated candidates must submit two letters of recommendation from a peer (educator, school administrator, not necessarily from your institution) with the application. Letters should be emailed to scholarships@ast.org.

Award Checklist

  1. Current curriculum vitae
  2. State assembly involvement (describe offices held, attendance at meetings, presentations given), etc. (This is important feedback since we encourage students to become involved early in their state assemblies).

Please email the documents to scholarships@ast.org. Be sure your name and Didactic Award Nomination are in the subject line.

In addition, nominees are encouraged to solicit a maximum of two student comments which can be forwarded to the Foundation confidentially at this email address: scholarships@ast.org.

Students, please include the words "2018 - 2019 Student Educator Commentary" in the subject line of your email. Be sure to send by December 1, 2018.
